Futuristic Machine Gun

Here's a futuristic machine gun, or maybe just a regular machine gun of a new design, there's really nothing about it that would require futuristic technology, maybe it fires super-fast or something, I dunno.

Vector Jet

More vector art practice, this time a fighter jet belonging to some odd, unheard of county somewhere in the south pacific... on the inside of hollow earth.
I'm happy with it, probably could have used a few more details but otherwise I think it looks presentable.

Vector Helicopter

I was thinking I needed some more practice making vector art, so I loosely followed a helicopter tutorial:

Could be better, I'm somewhat happy-ish with it, but it doesn't look entirely right to me, maybe I need more practice.

Alien Plant

An alien plant with a glowing bud of some sort, make with the new Blender 2.65, the DOF seems a little odd so I'm wondering if they changed the defocus node, I hope it gets fixed soon :D.

New Space Scene

Here's a new space scene, it was made with Blender and Gimp, possibly one of my first artworks using pink and blue as the main colors XD.

Space Laser Strike

Been working on a new video of a space laser hitting something, Blender's new flame simulator was used for the flame, which was rendered into a series of PNGs and added as a animated plane for the final scene.

Sound effects are all recorded/edited by me, one is from an old video of a windy day and the explosion is me hitting a glue bottle against the table (it was modified afterwards with audacity.)

Thanks for looking!

Dragon Digital Drawing

I was looking through some of my old stuff again and found this, it was originally made as a concept book cover so the original resolution is much larger, so I shrunk it down a bit for web viewing:

More Top-Down Spaceship Sprites

Here's a few more sprites made for the game mentioned below:

Christmas Scene

Here's my entry for a Christmas themed 3D contest, Blenders internal render engine was used, took 1 hour and 5 seconds to render, some slight modifications were done in Gimp (contrast, glare, border).
I tried to make it photo realistic, I made something similar for last years contest but hadn't entered it, so I thought I'd try re-doing my original concept a bit.

Spaceship Sprites

Here's some sprites I made for the game, one space station and a bunch of spaceships, they're a mixture of 3D and 2D editing, they were first modeled in 3D, rendered, then lines and windows were added later in Gimp.

Login GUI

Recently I've been busy trying to make a MMOG, it's not going so well on the programming side. Here's a screenshot of the current login screen, it doesn't do much as of yet and it's not entirely finished as it's lacking a title and such. I used a planet picture I posted previously as a background. You can enter text into the fields, click the buttons and tick the checkbox but other than that it does nothing as of yet.

Thanks for reading!

Alien Bugs

Here's my most recent Krita painting, a hive of alien insects, I've been messing with this image all day and I'm still not entirely happy with it, I don't think the subject stands out enough, and the lighting is lacking contrast, but I think it's reached a presentable state.
Another thing I don't really like is that the image doesn't give any sense of scale, these look like they could be only inches wide, but my intention was to make them look very large, the size of a small space fighter, I originally had a spaceship in the scene but it threw the composition off and didn't look good, so it's there no longer.

Hopefully I'll do better next time :D.

Spaceship Fighter Concepts

Still having fun with Krita, it would be nice if Gimp had some of Kritas functions, I especially like Kritas color and brush selector you get from right clicking and the selection of brush tools to work with. Another really useful tool is mirroring, it's great for making spaceship concepts.

Krita Castles

Here's  two castles made with Krita:

Tripod Robot Concept Art

Downloaded a new program today, it's called Krita. I found it's an amazing tool for making concept art and such as it has an amazing array of useful painting tools, very useful!

A Different Kind of 3D Modeling...

Recently I came across a website for a board game with all sorts of monsters, tanks, jet fighters, even a dragon or two. (I wonder if anyone knows what I'm talking about)
I wasn't as much interested in the actual game as I was the pieces that it was played with, amazingly detailed models of all sorts of war machines and such, they looked amazing, but with prices to match, sometimes about $60 just for an unpainted kit of a model that was probably not more that a few inches tall. As you can expect, I don't have the money to shell out a gazillion bucks for a model of some sort of Sci-Fi tank.

So I tried to make my own tank design and model, it doesn't compare to the ones I saw, but in my opinion, not too bad for being made out of card stock and cardboard.

Giant Machine

If you've ever seen Elephants Dream, this image is in the style of the open movie. I made all the scene except Proog (The guy standing on the thingy), this image is being made for a contest so critiques and suggestions are very much welcomed!
Current render time:1hr 11 mins on a 2.8 Ghz dual core machine.

Fractal Fun

Been messing around with Apophysis, these renders are by no means the limit of what Apopysis can do, I'm just not the most experienced with the program yet.
Gimp was used to add effects to some of the renders.

New Model For Sale -- Near Future Spaceship

Here's my most recent model, a spaceship that I imagine could be built in the next 10-20 years or so, for perhaps a mission to Mars or something:

Here's a link to it for sale, also more pictures of it: -Link-

Alien

Here's my latest project, a blue alien in a suit of armor or something,  it's not perfect but I'm happy with it.

I used subsurface scattering on the head, much of the body is UV unwrapped and textured, but not all of it.

  Thanks for visiting!

Tip: Getting Raw Stock Photography

Photo textures are a great way to add realism and interest to a 3D work, there are many places online to get free textures or stock photography, but sometimes the best way to get texture pictures is to take them yourself. Taking the image yourself also gives you legal rights over the image, just make sure it isn't a picture of a sculpture or some other copyrighted work such as a drawing or printed pattern or such.
It might be a good idea to build up a library of textures and images for you to use so that you don't have to go take pictures every time you want to use some textures, take a look around your own property and snap pictures of anything that might be of use, rusty pipes, concrete, grass, wood [just make sure it isn't a printed pattern], dirt or anything else that could be used for 3D work.

You can use macro mode [the tulip icon usually] to take close up shots:
